How Qigong saved my life
In 2019 my husband was diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer while we were on a tour of performing at music festivals in Australia.
Because he was adamant about not getting chemotherapy, we spent about a year and a half doing all kinds of natural therapies. Although we were thus able to contain the cancer from spreading into his abdomen and lymph systems, the tumor itself was too large for his body to break down naturally.
What followed was a very stressful period of our lives. My husband was in incredible pain every minute of the day (we found out later that the tumor was pressing on nerves of his spine) and could not sleep for many months. Finally, we traveled to Mexico so that he could get a surgical procedure.
Naturally, it was a time where I was challenged to my utmost to stay centered and calm. Not only was I a full time caregiver, I was continuing to run our professional recording studio, manage our 3 acre farm, and teach qigong and give private sessions. Needless to say, I was pretty overwhelmed. Although I received wonderful support from friends, there were many times I felt alone and at my wit’s end. And then there was covid on top of everything, beginning in the spring of 2020.
This is when I found the full value of my Qigong practice. By connecting daily with increasing my life force energy, clearing out toxic emotions of worry and stress and grief, and being able to come to a calm place of meditation, I found inside myself a new strength and resilience beyond anything I had previously experienced in my lifetime. I looked forward to dropping into the well of infinite energy every day, even if I only had a few minutes. I could feel my Wei-Qi fields (auric fields) become fuller, my stamina increasing, and my mind centered and present. Honestly, without this practice I probably would have had some kind of breakdown!
It was the best indicator yet for me that these techniques really worked. I had previously noticed myself becoming more balanced emotionally and physically, but now with the added intense layers of stress, I could meet the challenges with a renewed sense of purpose. From a first-hand perspective, I feel so confident to share this practice with others, because I know they really work.
